Bicol’s Melody Gersbach is 2009 Binibining Pilipinas-International

Miss Bicolandia 2008 Melody Gersbach has been crowned Binibining Pilipinas (Bb.)-International in a recently concluded beauty pageant in Manila on Sunday, March 8, 2009. With her are winners Pamela Bianca Manalo and Marie-Ann Umali, awarded the Bb. Pilipinas-Universe and Bb. Pilipinas-World titles respectively in a field of 24 semi-finalists.

Ms. Gersbach is a 23-year old graduate of business management at the University of Asia and the Pacific. She works as the manager of a family-owned restaurant in Legazpi City. Pamela Manalo who won Best Swimsuit Award, is a 22 year old flight stewardess with a degree in Advertising in Assumption College in Manila. Besting the beauty candidates in the long gown competition, Marie-Ann Umali was chosen as Miss Photogenic. She is a native of Batangas City with a Tourism degree from College of St. Benilde.

The dazzling evening coronation was held at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City. Hosted by Paolo Bediones and Iza Calzado, the event was shown live in GMA channels all over the country. The first runner-up was 20-year UP graduate Richell Agalot (Miss Talent) followed by 26 year old Regina Hahn, the second runnerup. Siempre kada taon, pirme nang gusto kan mga tawo an maka-hiling nin kagayonan na natutuparan sana sa Kabikolan. Sa pag-pugay sa sarong kandidata, uya siya. Marhay an huyom-huyom, halangkaw, may pulag ang tindog!

Dae ko maling’wan kan sadit pa ako. Sa UNC Sports Palace sa ciudad kan Naga an ralaban kayan. An mga ka-aki’an nasakat sa kudal, sa halangkaw na kahoy. Halos magaba an entablado kun an mga tawo nadaragsa para makahiling man kan mga tabay na maputi’on, pusod na hararom, ngirit na nakaka-akit.

Miss Bicolandia 2008 Search is On!

The Penafrancia Fiesta heats up with the presentation of candidates for the Miss Bicolandia 2008, the traditional search which highlights the famed annual festival of the Bicol region. On August 23, 2008, 20 hopeful candidates from different cities and provinces have been chosen from in an exciting poolside selection held at the Naga City Civic Center. In a dazzling evening pageant-competition, the winner will be crowned at the UNC Sports Palace on September 17, 2008.

According to Bicol Mail, a leading newspaper of the region, the young beautiful ladies vying for Miss Bicolandia 2008 are: Norify Kristal, Alexandra Raro, Mae Liezel Ramos, and Suserain Algura from Naga City; Alexis Joyce Beldon, Kelly Obligacion, and Amanda Powell from Legazpi City; Melody Adelheid Gersbach and Irene Loterena from Daraga, Albay; Katrina Villanueva (Cabusao), Ariane Natalie Lim (Canaman), Glaiza Reveza (San Fernando), Cherry Rose Juico (Caramoan), and Jean Babor (Baao), all of Camarines Sur; Margie Perena of San Andres, Catanduanes; Maricel Manzano of Masbate City; Honeyly Maninang of Iriga City; and Krystel Joy de los Santos, Ma.
